STARMAX, ORLANDO FL- THE FLOOD CONTINUES!

Lake County man claims a local dealer sold him a car with a hidden past.

Allen Ucci said he had no clue a 2007 Nissan 350 Z had been badly damaged before he paid $13,500 to buy it. He claims the dealer, StarMax Finance, never told him it was in a flood and he only discovered it after the vehicle’s engine blew out .

“That means there’s a big hole in the engine block that squirts oil everywhere and it will not run,” said Allen.

Later, Allen found the vehicle’s title was branded a flood vehicle.  In Florida, regulations require that disclosure in writing.

Loribeth Ucci and her son claim that didn’t happen.

“That was never said and never told and I’m not going to stop, because I am extremely upset,” said Loribeth Ucci.

At the dealership, a manager showed Action 9 a document he said Allen signed that disclosed the flood damage. But the document wasn’t dated and didn’t have the dealer signature, unlike other sales documents.

WFTV was denied a copy of the document.

“Are you blaming me? Are you blaming me?” asked the store manager.

“The customer is,” said Action 9’s Todd Ulrich.

Later, a state DMV investigator went to Starmax and told Allen the company showed her a disclosure that had been dated and notarized, a far different document than the one Action 9 saw just days before.

Starmax said the notarized version had been locked in a safe and the car’s price reflected a flood title value.

The Ucci’s contacted the DMV and the agency investigated.   It told the Uccis it can’t determine if the document is invalid and that they needed to file a complaint with the Department of State, which regulates notaries.

“To find a flood-damaged vehicle, oh, no no,” said Loribeth Ucci.

The DMV told the Uccis they could file against the dealer’s state bond to recover some money.

STARMAX ORLANDO, FL DUBBED “DIRTY TACTIC CROOKS” BY MANY!!

THE INNER WORKINGS OF THIS DEALERSHIP IS LIKE THE INNER WORKINGS OF THE MOB

CUSTOMER:

I bought a car at Starmax a year ago and made every payment on time (23%). I pay every 2 weeks and called as usual to give my cc. I did not think anymore . My next payment comes up and they repo my car because they say I never made payment. The money is still in the bank!!! Usually when this is done you pay full charge to get it back but the garbage owner asked for $2500 knowing they should have run my pmt ( being nice)..DIRTY TACTIC CROOKS

CUSTOMER:

They sell cars that are bad. They tamper with Diagnostic equipment so unsuspecting customers don’t find out about problem until after sale.

They will not make good on any cars. They are junk. They main source for buying vehicles is on craigslist. Stay away from starmax in orlando florida.

They also provide warranty that will cover nothing.

My vehicle was used and after I drove home, the very next day the car began to shake and would not shift properly.I took to repair shop to get fixed and shop stated this vehicle was defective from the get go.

CUSTOMER:

I financed a car from this establishment and it was probably one of the worse things that i have ever done! The company as a whole is a complete scam and the most unprofessional EVER! Don’t let there “sales pitch politeness” take you or your wallet for a ride. Soon as one thing they do not want to hear comes up you will regret ever even driving by this scamership! I have had NUMEROUS problems when them since i signed the papers for the car. Got into a car accident shortly after getting the car my insurance company sent me the check with my name and the lien holders name that was suppose to be given to the auto-body shop. But of course they do not follow the law so they DEMANDED I give them the check and they would give it to the body shop. Of course they never gave the check to the auto-body shop and unlawfully cashed the check (which is a felony.) After took a 7 weeks to fix the car and then another 3 weeks of calls from myself and the auto-body shop to the dealership which still did not resolve anything and forced me to go down to the dealership and demanded they write a check (which of course was a PERSONAL check.) The list goes on and on about the issues i have had with them. My car payment was 1 day late and they repossessed my car. They have yet to return my belongings that were in the car which was about a month ago. OVER ALL I WOULD SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE LOWEST OF THE LOW CAR DEALERSHIP AROUND. STAY AWAY!!!!!

STARMAX ORLANDO, FL DEFRAUD CONSUMER AGAIN!

Complaint: Paid $2000 down for a 2001 Volvo to Starmax Finance. Told AC worked,& given 30 day warranty. On way home, AC died. Been 3 weeks, still not fixed.
I called them from the car on the way home – when the AC died. I had owned the car 10 minutes. Was told “sure, – bring it in on Monday – we’ll fix it.” – But their Mechanic was out sick Monday and Tues. Was told “Bring it in Wednesday.” But then their Mechanic was backed up – from being out sick. So was “scheduled for the following Monday.” (9 days after buying the car.) – THAT was ELEVEN days ago. Have now had the car 3 WEEKS and have not been able to drive it.

We call every DAY but they just say the same thing. “He’s working on it”, “It should be done today”. But it NEVER is.

We actually PHYSICALLY went to the dealership last Saturday to pick out another car or get our money back. (Our car was just sitting there in their lot and is STILL on their website as “for sale”.)

Was told “You can’t have another car OR your money back – but we’ll fix it.” They SWORE they would deliver it by Wednesday evening…Today is Thursday and they aren’t returning my calls.

The Manager told the NEW Sales Guy “*****” (fired the one that sold us the car) “If you talk to me about their car again, you are fired!”

I have now figured out the Manager  is just trying to let the 30 days run out – so we will be “out of warranty” and that they do not have the ABILITY to fix the car and they WON’T PAY to have Volvo do it. (I asked.)

Do I have ANY recourse here? Or am I out my $2,000? I put $2,000 down on a car I drove for 10 minutes. They have now had it for almost 2 weeks. They refuse to replace and refund and while they say “we will repair” – they haven’t.

At this point, I just want my money back.

WHEN THE DEALER DEFRAUDS HONEST PEOPLE WITHIN THE COMPANY START TO SPEAK UP AGAINST THEM SALES PEOPLE AND OTHER EMPLOYES!

TRADE IN YOUR CAR WITH A BALANCE? HAVE DEALER WRITE YOU A CHECK!!

Complaint: I sold my car to this company with the agreement that they would pay the lien holder the balance my loan. They did not make the payment.
On January 29, 2012 I sold StarMax my 2006 Lexus IS 350. I gave them a pay off letter from American Honda Finance, the company that holds the lien. StarMax said the loan would be paid within 10 days. After 10 days, I contacted American Honda and was told the loan has not been paid. I then contacted StarMax and they said the check was mailed and they would look into the problem for me. Since January 2013, I have called StarMax several times and visited the company twice. Each time, I was given the run around and they said “they weren’t sure what happened.” Each time they said they would get back to me, but never did. The entire time, American Honda has called me everyday looking for their payment which is now past due. I checked StarMax’s website on February 5th and the Lexus is listed as “sold.”
ONCE MORE STARMAX TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A CONSUMER NOT KNOWING THE IN’S AND OUT’S OF THE BUSINESS, THEY TOOK THIS GUYS CAR IN ON TRADE NEVER PAID FOR IT AND RUINED HIS CREDIT. THIS IS COMMON WITH DEALERS WHO DON’T HAVE ENOUGH LIQUID TO BE ABLE TO PAY OFF THE CUSTOMERS VEHICLE. WITH STARMAX THE CASE IS PROBABLY THEM NOT WANTING TO INVEST INTO THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING A CUSTOMER TO ACTUALLY BUY IT FROM THEM. THIS IS A SCAM AND A FRAUD!!!!!
EVERY ONE THAT TRADES THEIR CAR IN HAS THE RIGHT TO ASK THE DEALER FOR THE CHECK FOR THE VEHICLE MADE OUT TO THE FINANCE COMPANY THAT HOLDS THE LIEN ON THE CAR DON’T LET THIS FRAUD/SCAM HAPPEN TO YOU DEALERS LIKE STARMAX ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF UNKNOWN DYNAMICS TO THE CUSTOMER IN THIS PART OF THE BUSINESS.

Starmax Finance- At it again! Plenty to come……

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT GIVE THE CAR BUSINESS A BAD NAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN I FIND POST ON THE INTERNET THAT PROVE THAT THE BUSINESS PRACTICES THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT THE PRACTICES OF OF ALL CAR DEALERS LIKE MYSELF!!!! MY GOAL IS TO GET THEM OUT OF BUSINESS!!!

COMPLAINT FROM THE BBB WEBSITE.

Complaint: These guys are complete crooks they took my car without giving me being late on any payment when i questioned the owner he told to leave his property. I put down 1500 bucks for a 2003 lancer i had the car for a little over a month never missed a payment and these guys issued a repo and took my car without giving me any reason. Today I went inside the dealership to question the manager about my vehicle and he threaten me because i had previously video recorded him during a verbal agreement that he would fix my car.
