STARMAX, ORLANDO FL- THE FLOOD CONTINUES!

Lake County man claims a local dealer sold him a car with a hidden past.

Allen Ucci said he had no clue a 2007 Nissan 350 Z had been badly damaged before he paid $13,500 to buy it. He claims the dealer, StarMax Finance, never told him it was in a flood and he only discovered it after the vehicle’s engine blew out .

“That means there’s a big hole in the engine block that squirts oil everywhere and it will not run,” said Allen.

Later, Allen found the vehicle’s title was branded a flood vehicle.  In Florida, regulations require that disclosure in writing.

Loribeth Ucci and her son claim that didn’t happen.

“That was never said and never told and I’m not going to stop, because I am extremely upset,” said Loribeth Ucci.

At the dealership, a manager showed Action 9 a document he said Allen signed that disclosed the flood damage. But the document wasn’t dated and didn’t have the dealer signature, unlike other sales documents.

WFTV was denied a copy of the document.

“Are you blaming me? Are you blaming me?” asked the store manager.

“The customer is,” said Action 9’s Todd Ulrich.

Later, a state DMV investigator went to Starmax and told Allen the company showed her a disclosure that had been dated and notarized, a far different document than the one Action 9 saw just days before.

Starmax said the notarized version had been locked in a safe and the car’s price reflected a flood title value.

The Ucci’s contacted the DMV and the agency investigated.   It told the Uccis it can’t determine if the document is invalid and that they needed to file a complaint with the Department of State, which regulates notaries.

“To find a flood-damaged vehicle, oh, no no,” said Loribeth Ucci.

The DMV told the Uccis they could file against the dealer’s state bond to recover some money.

Starmax Finance, Orlando Fl. One Of the Worst in the biz!!!

I walked in with a $2000 down payment and was sold a death trap. I drove the car for a month and 17 days and had to find my own mechanic.
On June 29, 2013 I walked into StarMax the place to go if you want to be scammed out of your money. My sales person was ********* not sure if the names are even their real names.I explained to her that I needed a reliable car for my children and myself. I was assured that all of their cars were inspected and are in great condition. She showed me around to the cars that would fit my kids and myself. I chose a 2004 blue Kia Sorento. I signed the paper work and asked to test drive she then proceeds to tell me that the car needed to be detailed and it wasn’t inspected because it had just arrived to the lot. I asked her why would you even show and sale me a car that was not inspected. I left the car there until July 3rd so that it could be inspected and detailed. When I get there I was told the car was still not ready. I told them that they had the car since Saturday and today is Tuesday the car was suppose to be ready and inspected. ***** assured me that it was. The next day I called ***** on her cell phone and told her that I am finding a lot of problems with the car she told me to write everything that was wrong and bring it in. The driver side window didn’t go down, the back lights were out, the front panel light to see the speedometer was out, and the biggest problem was when I backed up the back driver tire made a sound and the tire felt funny. Took the list to them and of course the mechanic was not in. Every time I called or went their the mechanic was never in. August 7th I was taking my son to work at 4:30 in the morning and the back tire on the driver side exploded I have pictures to show the tire. We go to put the spare tire on it was flat we had to take the tire to get air in it put the air in and the air was coming out the tire was full of nails. The car started making a grinding sound called and was told that ***** wasn’t in. I left messages on her cell phone she never returned my calls. I left many messages and was never told that ***** was fired. I then found a mechanic because they were not helping me at all. I took the car to the mechanic because of the loud noise the back tire was making. The mechanic drove the car to see what the noise was and where it was coming from. He put it on the lift to look under the car he asked me to come look at what he was looking at and said I need a brand new rear end he showed me something called a pinion and was able to shake it and it was very loose. He told me that somebody was looking out for me because that was a dangerous accident waiting to happen. He said that if it broke which it was on the verge he said the car would have flipped and the outcome would not have been good. He thinks that the car was in a car accident he said it’s no way possible that I messed the pinion up. I also called another mechanic and he said that he used to work for kia and he has never ever seen a kia needing a rear end.He said that the car had to been in a car accident. The mechanic called the dealership and asked to speak to the owner and was told the owner wasn’t there so he asked to speak to the manager he was transferred to three different people and had to explain each time what was going on with the car and told them to send a tow truck and they said the car was my problem. I called and was given the run around every time I called and was told I need to speak to the owner that was never there. I finally got to speak to
********* who is one of the owners and I was told that h wanted me to be a happy customer I told him that all I wanted was a reliable car like I told him and ***** the day I got the car.He agreed to an even exchange. Because that never happened I went in person last week on the 10th to speak to someone. I was told once again that I had to talk to the owner I left and “*****” a salesman said that he could help me. The next morning I get a text from ****** *****” saying they found a car. They go get the car from the auto shop and then tell me that I need to give $1000 kept the car

Initial Business Response
Consumer was late on her payment and she was trying to hide the vehicle from the lien holder when vehicle had no problems whatsoever!!! after the purchase of the vehicle customer made only 1 payment after that it was unable to locate the vehicle and the customer. after we reached her her exact words was( lets see if you can find the vehicle!!!)
customer has bad intentions on this deal and she was refusing the making payment and we had to repossessed the vehicle

Does this mean that they are allowed to sale junk? The customer should not have paid anything for a faulty vehicle. Especially in the case that the customer could have been in a real bad accident. She has a family to take care of , this in no way is fair to the customer at all. I would not have paid them myself.
